About Us

With over 300 members, UCL Musical Theatre Society remains the premiere society for all things MT at UCL!

Our society consists of a mixture of events ranging from shows and galas, to workshops and socials. We place the welfare and safety of our members at the forefront of everything we do and work to ensure that everyone feels respected, safe, valued and heard.

Although this year may be different, we promise our members, wherever they are in the world, that they will be able to access high quality events and actively participate in society activities.

Whatever your level of skill or interest, we have something for you!

SHOWS

Musical Theatre Society offers all students the opportunity to get involved with large and small scale productions housed in the Bloomsbury Theatre and other venues around UCL. From playing in the pit orchestra, creating costumes and props, to producing and performing or just watching- there is something for everyone and we encourage all to get involved. Click here to see all shows we have done. We hold 5-7 shows a year and each show holds 3 performances. Our variety of show genres ensures that all members, whether their interests be classic book musicals, rock or jukebox, are accommodated for.

Productions are completely student led, and we run regular workshops throughout the year to show the bidding process and give members an introduction of what it’s like to be on the production team.

SOCIETY EVENTS

Our society events are created to help further develop the unique talents of our members together with giving them new skills and introducing them to the world of musical theatre. We offer a wide variety of events in order for our members to receive the best opportunities.

Some of our current and upcoming events include:

  • A non-auditioned choir that rehearses weekly- relaxed and open to all.

  • Termly galas and concerts that allow our members the opportunity to perform in a relaxed setting that is open to all.

  • Musical Theatre trips where we take our members to shows on the West End for very discounted prices..

  • Masterclass workshops from leading industry professionals ranging from performing and directing, to composing and dancing.

  • Collaborations with other Arts societies at UCL.

  • Audition workshops to help members feel confident and relaxed when going for roles in shows.

SOCIALS

One of the most popular aspects of the society, our socials allow for our members to come together in various different forms to meet new people and just have fun!

Get ready to ‘Let it Go’ and sing your heart out in our karaoke nights at Mully’s Bar or ‘smashing every expectation’ in our quiz nights!

Our brilliant social secretaries are constantly coming up with innovative ideas for our members from theatre visits and scavenger hunts to Netflix parties and bowling nights.
